Money Exchange
For currency exchange, it takes place at most major bank branches from
9:00 - 15:00,
Monday through Friday. Please be aware that banks are not opened on Saturday, Sunday, and public
holidays. If visitors arrive on the weekend, we recommend should exchanging
your money at Narita Airport. Additionally, some hotels do offer currency
exchange, but the rate of yen depends on the hotel, thus please be sure
to check which hotel you are going to stay at before you arriving.

ATMs
To use international credit cards to withdraw cash from ATMs, there are
several ATMs available that you can withdraw cash in Japanese yen. However,
please be aware that not every credit card company can be used with every
ATMs. Also, please be aware that service charges may be incurred.
Postal Office ATMs
Service hours:
Weekdays from 9:00 - 17:30 (time depends on location)
Amount of money that you can be withdrawn in one day: 500,000 yen
Usable credit cards: Please check with the card logos on the sign
7-Eleven Convenience Stores and Ito Yokado Stores ATMs
Service hours:
Always open, 24 hours (some branches may not allow cards to be used between 23:50 and 0:10)

Communication
・ Telephone:
Pay phones are either grey or green and are usually located in public areas,
such as the airport or train stations. Many accept coins, but some may
only take telephone cards. In the case of those which only accept telephone
cards, cards can be purchased from local vending machines or convenience
stores. Most telephone cards are either 500 yen or 1000 yen, and are mainly
used for domestic calls.
International calling cards can also be purchased at the airport or convenience store and usually sell for 1000 yen, 3000 yen, and 5000 yen. These can be used
with a toll-free number from any telephones.

You can use Email in
Internet cafes that are available throughout the city.
WiFi is available in most hotels.
